Mixed-media Replicas by Lee Kyu-Hak

Lee Kyu-Hak, a Korean artist, reinterprets pieces of art using unusual technique to imitate brushstrokes. Drawing inspiration in works by Vincent Van Gogh, the artist imitates his style and originates reproductions operating with Styrofoam wrapped in paper ribbons from colour newspapers and magazines. Lee has already recreated “Starry Night”, “Blooming Almond Tree”, “Still Life: Vase with Irises” and “The Night Café”. Each of his replicas comprises from 25000 to 30000 pieces of material. The collection by Lee Kyu-Hak is known as “The Monumental Series”.
